Time Soldier: Legion Breaker — a 3D Action Game Through the Wars of History
A Croatian soldier in modern gear steps through a portal of blue light and lands in the middle of the greatest wars in history. Thousands of enemies, one rifle and no retreat. Time Soldier: Legion Breaker is a 3D mobile action game in which one man stands against entire armies. An in-house game, from the first idea to the release on Google Play and Apple's App Store.
Every era has its own army and its own tactics: shields that block bullets, archers that cover the field, cavalry that charges straight through the player and bosses that shake the ground. Several hundred enemies can be on screen at once, each fighting in its own way.
- 7 eras and 35 battles: Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, the Vikings, Szigetvár 1566, the Mongol invasion, Sengoku Japan and the age of knights, with night battles and bosses
- Arsenal: assault rifle, shotgun, grenade launcher, flamethrower, minigun and RPG, all upgraded with the gold won in battle
- Backup from the future: a K9 dog, a drone, a machine-gun jeep and an airstrike
- Horde mode: endless waves from every era at once and a global leaderboard
- Achievements and leaderboards in Game Center on iOS and Google Play Games on Android
- Every era has its own techno soundtrack, and the game runs offline, with no energy and no waiting timers, in six languages
- Free to play: ads only when the player chooses to watch one for a reward, never in the middle of a battle. Packs from 1.99 to 4.99 €, gold from 0.99 to 9.99 €
I ran the whole cycle: game, battle and gold economy design, art direction, 3D models of soldiers, enemies and vehicles, army animation, sound and music, a user interface in six languages, in-app purchases and rewarded ads, leaderboards, store screenshots and texts for both stores, and promo videos in Croatian and English.
Technology: game — Three.js (WebGL) and JavaScript, no off-the-shelf game engine. Armies are drawn as instanced models with animations baked into textures, so hundreds of units run smoothly on a phone. Android and iOS — Capacitor, in-app purchases and rewarded ads, Game Center and Google Play Games. Global Horde leaderboard — Firebase.
