Tisch Fishing Game: Big Catch — reviewed by Pêche au bar

The French fishing site Pêche au bar, which is dedicated to sea bass and sea fishing, published a review of our game Tisch Fishing Game: Big Catch. The review sets out to answer whether the game is worth installing, and the answer is yes.

What the review highlights

The review describes Tisch Fishing Game as a free arcade shore-fishing game for Android and iPhone, played at real fishing spots on three continents. For French readers, a big draw is that they can fish at well-known places on the French coast, such as Étretat, Biarritz and the Pointe du Raz, as well as on the ice near Kem in Russia.

  • Real places: 124 spots in 24 countries on three continents, and 204 fish species.
  • Live weather and tides: weather, waves, tides and the day-night cycle follow real conditions at the chosen spot. This part particularly impressed them: “L’influence de la météo réelle est bluffante”, or “the effect of the real weather is stunning”.
  • No location permission: the game does not ask for your location, because weather and tides come from the spot the player picks.
  • No forced ads: no ad ever interrupts the game. The only ads are videos the player chooses to watch for a reward, for example to double a payout.
  • Purchases are optional: the game is free, and countries can also be unlocked with coins earned by fishing.
  • Competition: tournaments by country and a worldwide record leaderboard for every species.

They also praised the simple interface, the full French translation and the fact that the game runs on older phones. They noted that players learn about real fish species along the way, which makes the game a good introduction to shore fishing.

The review draws an interesting comparison: the way day and night in the game follow real local time reminds them of Virtual Regatta, the well-known sailing game that runs in real time. It also explains the difference between the game and our Tisch Fishing app, which helps anglers prepare real fishing trips on the Adriatic.

Pros, cons and verdict

As pros, the review lists live real-world weather, no forced ads and a huge variety of species. As cons, it notes that progress can be slow without purchases and that the monsters are very hard to catch. We are glad to hear the second one: the biggest fish should be a real challenge.

The verdict is that the game holds its own among free games and shows a lot of promise. Readers are invited to download it and land their first monster before other players take the records.

About the game

Tisch Fishing Game is a free shore-fishing game: cast, wait for a bite and fight the fish without snapping the line. At Designer2 we built it from idea to launch, covering design, iOS and Android development, and publishing in the stores. Read more about the project in our portfolio post.
