Tisch Fishing Game: Europe — a Shore Fishing Game in 7 Countries

Every angler knows the feeling: the weekend is far away, the weather is bad or you simply can't get to the sea. Tisch Fishing Game is a shore fishing game for the Tisch Fishing brand, made so that you can still make a cast, feel the bite and land a nice fish. It started on the Adriatic, and with version 1.1.0 it became Tisch Fishing Game: Europe, with 40 real spots in 7 countries and one question: who will catch the biggest fish? I led the project from the first idea to release on Google Play and Apple's App Store.
The game is not detached from reality. Every spot has its real GPS coordinates, and the game pulls the real air and sea temperature, wind, waves, pressure, cloud cover, rain and tide for it. If the bora is blowing in Split, it blows in the game. If it rains in Biarritz, it rains in the game. The sun rises and sets on the local time of each spot, so the north of Norway gets the polar night, the midnight sun and the northern lights. The fishing score uses the same formula as the Tisch Fishing Europe app, so the game also shows what conditions are like at the real spots.
- 7 countries, 40 real spots: Croatia (16 spots from Rovinj to Dubrovnik and Pelješac), France (Sète, Biarritz, Pointe du Raz, Étretat), Spain (Cabo de Palos, Santander, Fisterra, Punta de Teno on Tenerife), Greece (Sounion, Monemvasia, Chania, Kassiopi), England (Chesil, Dungeness, Whitby, Lizard), Norway (Saltstraumen, Henningsvær, the Atlantic Road, Lindesnes) and Sweden (Smögen, Marstrand, Kullen, Malmö)
- Real live weather: sun, rain, storms and tide from the real spot, a fishing score from 0 to 100 and Tisch Fishing tips on which fish bite right now, on which bait and at which depth
- 76 fish species: from sea bream, dentex and sea bass to cod, thornback ray, sea trout and halibut, plus exotic fish from the Canary Islands. Every country has its own signature and legendary species
- Top list of the biggest fish: a record for every species among all players on Android and iPhone, who holds it and where. On start the game tells you whether you're still the best or someone has taken your record
- Daily tournament: new rules every day, and the top three win gold, silver and bronze cups and super bait
- A real fight: drag to cast, strike at the right moment and reel in while watching the line tension. Every species fights its own way
- An atlas and an aquarium for every country, 43 achievements through Google Play Games and Game Center, and cloud save
- Free, no forced ads: ads are watched only by choice, for a reward. New countries unlock with coins or a purchase, and the Europe Pass unlocks them all
- For phones and tablets, in English, Croatian, German, French and Spanish
I ran the whole cycle: game design and fight mechanics, art direction, illustrations of the coast, seabed and panorama of all 40 spots, illustrations of 76 fish species, the interface, sound and music, the connection to real weather, sea, tide and sun data, online leaderboards and tournaments, native Android and iOS apps with purchases and rewarded ads, translations into five languages, store screenshots and copy for both stores, and promo videos in five languages.
Technologies: game — HTML5 Canvas and JavaScript. Live data — Open-Meteo (weather, sea, waves, tide), with the sun position computed from GPS for every spot. Online — Firebase (leaderboards, tournaments, cloud save). Android and iOS — Capacitor, Google Play Billing and StoreKit, AdMob rewarded ads, Google Play Games and Game Center, for phones and tablets.
